Trent Alexander-Arnold's precise penalty was the second most powerful strike of Euro 2024.

Trent Alexander-Arnold delivered England to the Euro semi-finals with a penalty so powerful it ranked second in the tournament – a clear release of pent-up frustration.

The Liverpool native, often a mere observer in recent matches for the Three Lions, was called upon in the ultimate high-pressure moment: a penalty shootout that was the only barrier to the last four.

When Alexander-Arnold approached to take his shot, England had already successfully made four penalties, and it was his kick that could clinch the win.

He did not disappoint, launching a missile that flew into the top left corner of the net at a staggering 125.6 km/h (78 mph).

This penalty was not only the most forceful of the tournament but also the second-most powerful strike overall, thanks to Adidas' technology embedded in the Fussballliebe match ball.

Only Slovenia's captain Erik Janza has outdone Alexander-Arnold, with a strike in the group stage draw against Denmark clocking in at 128.76 km/h (80 mph).

Cody Gakpo is also among the top five for the most powerful strikes, with his goal against Romania hitting a peak speed of 120.7 km/h.

After being labeled the early fall guy, it was vindicating to witness Alexander-Arnold rise to the occasion for England when it mattered most.

He had been on the field for just six minutes before the quarter-final against Switzerland escalated to penalties. Brought on with a singular expectation, he exceeded it spectacularly.

His post-match grin was irrepressible, and he swiftly shared an Instagram post captioned, “Pressure makes diamonds.” Indeed, they do, Trent.

Having achieved every possible accolade with his childhood club, it was hardly shocking to see the vice-captain thrive under pressure, silencing any skepticism about his talent.

Whether Gareth Southgate will emerge from his misconceptions remains to be seen.
