The manager has confirmed interest in Nat Phillips, and the Liverpool defender has agreed.

Liverpool's valuation may pose a challenge, yet Nat Phillips has garnered confirmed interest this summer, and the defender himself is open to a transfer. With two years remaining on his Anfield contract and limited prospects for advancement, Phillips is expected to pursue a departure. Following four loan periods, a permanent move seems likely, with Liverpool seeking around £8 million for the centre-back. Ipswich, a newly promoted Premier League team, and Bundesliga's Mainz have shown interest in a deal.

However, Cardiff, where Phillips was on loan last season, has confirmed their interest in the 27-year-old. Cardiff's manager Erol Bulut, who recently extended his contract, expressed his desire on BBC Radio Wales to retain Phillips if he continues as coach. "If I'm here next season, I'd like him to be here too," Bulut stated, praising Phillips as a defensive leader.

At a later press conference, Phillips acknowledged he would "certainly consider" rejoining Cardiff, citing the ongoing changes at Liverpool. He expressed his enjoyment of his time at Cardiff and his desire to continue playing regularly. Phillips, familiar with club transitions due to his loan experiences, mentioned his comfort with Cardiff and openness to a return. According to WalesOnline, Cardiff sources have not dismissed another move for Phillips, although a second loan seems unlikely.

Liverpool's asking price remains a significant factor for Cardiff, who have been cautious with their spending since 2019.
