The departing Liverpool coach has confirmed the anticipated news regarding Nat Phillips' future.

John Achterberg, the departing goalkeeping coach, seems to have confirmed the anticipated future of Nat Phillips at Liverpool, suggesting a summer transfer is likely.

At 27, Phillips has spent the past year on loan at two clubs, Celtic and Cardiff.

With two years remaining on his contract and a new manager on the horizon, Liverpool is expected to seek a permanent sale for Phillips this summer.

Achterberg's comment on Instagram, responding to Phillips' heartfelt tribute to manager Jurgen Klopp, appeared to endorse this move.

Achterberg's message read: "You're a good defender, Nat! Good luck in your next move."

This was in reply to Phillips' post expressing gratitude to Klopp: "Thank you, Boss, for believing in me, and for the chance and honor to play for Liverpool FC.

I will always be thankful for the experiences and the moments we've shared."

Following a season of ups and downs, Phillips faced high hopes in Scotland but was hampered by injuries and struggled with Brendan Rodgers' defensive tactics at Celtic.

He returned to Liverpool mid-season, only to be loaned out to Cardiff in Wales.

In the Championship, Phillips managed to secure consistent playtime, starting 17 of his 18 games in the second tier, contributing to manager Erol Bulut's team finishing 12th out of 24.

Despite it being some time since 2021, when Phillips was a key part of Liverpool's defense alongside Rhys Williams, his ability to lead defensively when utilized properly remains noteworthy.

Although the prospect of Champions League football at Celtic was enticing, the team's playing style was not a good fit for Phillips, and he may face similar issues under incoming manager Arne Slot at Liverpool.

All signs indicate a summer exit, as Liverpool looks to maximize returns from player sales, marking a potential end of an era.
