Reports indicate that Liverpool have made inquiries about Bologna's centre-back Riccardo Calafiori this summer, with their technical director suggesting a potential move.
Calafiori has left Germany following Italy's elimination from the Euros by Switzerland, potentially accelerating discussions regarding his transfer. Talks with the 22-year-old were paused during the tournament, but with several clubs showing interest, negotiations are expected to resume.
The Athletic's James Horncastle reports that Liverpool is among the clubs that have inquired about Calafiori's availability. Juventus, Tottenham, Newcastle, Brighton, West Ham, Arsenal, and Real Madrid are all reportedly interested in the left-sided defender, with varying levels of intent.
At a recent event marking the beginning of the Serie A transfer window, Bologna's sporting director Giovanni Sartori acknowledged the possibility of a transfer. While emphasizing Bologna's desire to retain Calafiori, Sartori conceded that substantial offers might necessitate his sale, likely to a club outside Italy rather than Juventus.
"Bologna signed Calafiori just 12 months ago, and our intention is to keep him," Sartori stated, according to Football Italia.
"The speculation includes Juventus and other clubs. Should significant offers come in, we would consider them.
"I believe he will not join Juventus; if he moves, it will probably be to a foreign team, although we intend to retain him."
Bologna's prospects of reaching an agreement with Juventus have reportedly diminished due to the circumstances surrounding manager Thiago Motta's earlier departure to Turin. La Gazetta Dello Sport's Monday issue mentioned Liverpool as a potential destination, with Bologna valuing the defender at over €40 million (£34m).
Arsenal, Chelsea, and Tottenham have also been mentioned as interested parties, with Bologna possibly offering Calafiori a new contract to prevent a summer departure.
