Liverpool will play two friendlies on the same day at Anfield.

Liverpool has scheduled an additional pre-season friendly, set to occur less than three hours following their match against Sevilla at Anfield.

Arne Slot's team will play host to Sevilla with fans present at 12:30 pm on Sunday, August 11, and then will welcome La Liga's Las Palmas at 5 pm, once more at Anfield.

The latter match, however, will not be open to supporters and will instead take place behind closed doors. It will be broadcast live on LFCTV.

This arrangement appears to be in response to the fact that many players have not yet returned to pre-season training.

This group includes Alisson, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez, Alexis Mac Allister, Darwin Nunez, Cody Gakpo, and Luis Diaz.

Others, such as the injured Andy Robertson, Ibrahima Konate, and Ryan Gravenberch, have not yet played under the new coach.

Slot is expected to use the Sevilla match to field players who are more advanced in their pre-season preparations, and the closed-door game to help those returning this week improve their fitness.

While Liverpool has previously played two games over two consecutive days in pre-season, playing two on the same day is unprecedented.

Las Palmas, who ended last season 16th in La Liga, will be the third Spanish team Liverpool faces in this pre-season.

Following Saturday night's friendly in South Carolina against Manchester United, the Reds will return to Merseyside, with the rest of the squad resuming pre-season in Kirkby on Monday.

Liverpool's journey continues to Ipswich on August 17, marking Slot's first competitive game at the helm.
