As of now, Liverpool has not made any new additions to their first-team roster during the ongoing transfer window, which is set to close at 23:00 BST on Friday, 30 August.
"We already possess a very good team, one that I'm quite content with," Slot remarked, ahead of his team's match against Real Betis in Pittsburgh on Saturday (00:30 BST), which is part of a three-game pre-season tour in the United States.
"However, I believe it would be a surprise for all of us if we don't introduce any new players. That is likely to occur eventually.
"At the moment, we are awaiting the return of our players and looking for the right ones to sign."
After taking over from Jurgen Klopp as Liverpool's manager, Slot is evaluating his squad but is missing several key players due to Euro 2024 and the Copa America.
Portuguese forward Diogo Jota is already with his Liverpool colleagues in Pittsburgh, and it's anticipated that French defender Ibrahima Konate and Dutch midfielder Ryan Gravenberch will also join the Reds in America. Scottish left-back Andy Robertson is present in the US but will not participate in matches until after the tour as he recovers from a minor injury sustained during the Euros.
Nonetheless, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Alisson, Luis Diaz, Cody Gakpo, Joe Gomez, Alexis Mac Allister, Darwin Nunez, and Virgil van Dijk are among those still absent, and Slot anticipates they will "begin after the trip when we are back in Liverpool."
"The initial goal, as I've mentioned before, is to work with these players," the Dutchman added.
"Obviously, it's a setback that many of them are not here yet, especially the players who are already under contract."
"The standards for recruiting new players are quite high because we already have such a strong team and squad."
With Slot's arrival, there's been significant changes at Liverpool. The Fenway Sports Group, the club's owners, have appointed former sporting director Michael Edwards as the chief executive of football.
Additionally, Richard Hughes, the former technical director at Bournemouth, has assumed the role of sporting director for the Anfield team. "Richard and I, along with others, are working to enhance the squad wherever possible, but it's challenging given the caliber of our players," Slot remarked.
"Richard is particularly diligent in this effort and keeps me regularly informed. We will notify you if there are any developments."
England defender Alexander-Arnold, like forward Mohamed Salah and captain Van Dijk, has one year remaining on his contract with the Reds. When questioned about Alexander-Arnold's contract status, Slot said, "My response might seem dull, as it's the same one you've probably heard for the past five, six, or seven years.
"We do not discuss contract details here - but feel free to keep asking," he suggested.
