Liverpool FC is set to appoint a former Man City coach as a replacement for a significant staff position.

Arne Slot's coaching team is evolving, with the announcement of a new hire to fill the vacancy left by Vitor Matos, and the possibility of another addition being considered.

Liverpool's newly appointed head coach introduced three new staff members at his official presentation: Sipke Hulshoff as assistant coach, Ruben Peeters as head of fitness, and Fabian Otte as goalkeeping coach, all joining the team in Merseyside.

During his inaugural press conference, Slot mentioned that two additional coaches would be announced "soon," and developments seem to be underway.

Lewis Steele from The Mail has reported that Aaron Briggs, formerly Man City's first-team performance analyst, will join Liverpool as the new elite development coach, a role previously held by Vitor Matos that effectively connected the academy to the first team, a strategy that has been quite successful.

Briggs, who is only 37, brings extensive experience, having worked at Preston, Tottenham, City, Monaco, Wolfsburg, and even as a consultant for FIFA, covering both academy and first-team levels.

James Pearce of The Athletic notes that Briggs was sought after by several Premier League clubs this summer. His recruitment was spearheaded by Liverpool's sporting director Richard Hughes and FSG's CEO of football, Michael Edwards.

The direct replacement for Matos signals the new management's commitment to maintaining the pathway for young players.
