Liverpool goalkeeper Fabian Mrozek has finalized a loan transfer to Sweden, marking his second temporary move this summer after a four-year tenure at the club's academy.
The 20-year-old, frequently involved in first-team training last season and this year's early pre-season, was absent from the closed-door friendly against Preston and not included in the squad for the US tour.
Mrozek's loan to IF Brommapojkarna for an initial half-season, with an option to extend, clarifies his absence. The Swedish club won the bid for his services, surpassing interest from teams in Poland, Portugal, and New Zealand, even after Liverpool rejected a June offer for him.
Moreover, Mrozek has renewed his contract with Liverpool. IF Brommapojkarna, managed by ex-Aston Villa defender Olof Mellberg, are 15 games into the Swedish top division season, sitting 11th with 18 points. Their season runs from April to November, coinciding with Mrozek's loan duration. Filip Sidklev, 19, is currently the main goalkeeper, posing competition for Mrozek.
Liverpool is actively seeking loan placements for their young goalkeepers, with this being Mrozek's inaugural loan since his 2020 arrival.
Jakub Ojrzynski is considering a trial at Polish club GKS Katowice, while Calvin Ramsay is the only other player to confirm a loan this summer.
Expect further announcements in the coming weeks, including one for Luke Chambers, who is set to return to his former club and join Ramsay in League One.
