Liverpool are reportedly interested in Schalke's midfield prodigy Assan Ouedraogo, who has a £12 million price tag.
Ouedraogo was initially linked to Liverpool in October, alongside Bayern Munich, AC Milan, Brighton, and Everton.
Subsequently, German reports indicated that Liverpool was among the clubs that had reached out to his representatives.
Eight months on, Florian Plettenberg of Sky Germany reports that Liverpool, along with Manchester United, Aston Villa, and Newcastle, have inquired about his interest in joining the Premier League.
Plettenberg also noted that Ouedraogo awaited a call from Bayern to see if a move to Munich was possible.
However, Bayern has since informed Ouedraogo they will not pursue a deal, opening the door for Liverpool to leverage a £12 million release clause exclusive to Premier League clubs, which must be activated by mid-June.
Ouedraogo debuted for Schalke's first team in July, becoming their youngest player and scorer in a match against Hamburg.
He has played various roles but is now establishing himself as a midfielder, drawing comparisons to Xabi Alonso.
James Westwood of GOAL described him as a natural No. 8 with the potential to change games with his goal-scoring ability and sharp passing.
Standing at 6’3″, Ouedraogo is noted for his agility despite his height, and his skillful ball handling.
