Liverpool defender Calvin Ramsay has secured a loan transfer to League One team Wigan, marking his third loan period.
Since his transfer from Aberdeen to Liverpool in 2022, Ramsay's progress has been hampered by injuries.
Following an inconsistent first season in Merseyside, the right-back moved to Preston on loan last summer.
However, his stint at North End ended prematurely in January due to limited playing time, and a subsequent loan to Bolton did not yield better results.
In an effort to recover lost time, Liverpool has promptly arranged another season-long loan for Ramsay with Wigan.
Ramsay is set to spend the 2024/25 season at the Brick Community Stadium, importantly joining Shaun Maloney's squad from the beginning of pre-season.
This agreement marks the third of its kind between the two clubs in the last year, with James Balagizi and Luke Chambers also having loan spells at Wigan.
Chambers' tenure at Wigan was notably successful, with the defender making 17 starts in 18 appearances since January, contributing one goal and three assists.
Liverpool hopes Ramsay will have a similarly impactful loan, as he urgently requires playing time to rejuvenate his career at Anfield.
The Scottish player, who turns 21 in July, still has ample time to develop, despite having played just under 10 hours of football over the last two years.
"Calvin has the ideal profile, offering aggression and offensive skills on both flanks of the defence," said Maloney, speaking to Wigan's official website.
"Calvin is highly motivated to contribute to our team's success this season and will be with us from the first day of pre-season.
"I am eager to work with Calvin and assist him in adjusting as swiftly as possible."
