Liverpool are considering a £40m bid for a Newcastle standout.

Liverpool has shown interest in Yankuba Minteh, the Newcastle prodigy, after the club acknowledged they would 'reluctantly consider offers' for the 19-year-old. Minteh, who transferred from Danish team Odense to Newcastle last summer, had a successful loan stint at Feyenoord, scoring ten goals and providing five assists in 27 matches under Arne Slot.

The Telegraph reports that Newcastle is open to offers for the young player to adhere to Premier League profit and sustainability rules and to finance their transfer ambitions. They have reportedly set a £40m price tag on Minteh, whose sale would be a significant triumph for Dan Ashworth, soon to join Manchester United, who is recognized for acquiring Minteh for a mere £6.5m a year earlier.

While Newcastle would prefer to retain Minteh, his sale could enable them to keep key players like Bruno Guimaraes and Alexander Isak, who have been standout performers at St James' Park. Minteh, primarily a right winger, is an area Eddie Howe wants to bolster this summer, but Minteh is considered more of a future prospect, while Newcastle seeks a seasoned star for that role.

West Ham's Jarrod Bowen, Crystal Palace's Michael Olise, and Nico Williams of Atletico Madrid are among the potential recruits linked with the club. Liverpool is also dealing with other transfer news, including a potential masterstroke by Michael Edwards that could earn the club millions and a challenge from Manchester United willing to pay €60m for a top target of Arne Slot. Liverpool is also reportedly ready to meet the asking price for a £38m target.
