The Liverpool was taken off in the 37th minute of the Reds' 5-0 Premier League win at London Stadium, and was replaced by Jarell Quansah.
Speaking Sky Sports post-match, head coach Slot stated: "You saw today an injury to Joe Gomez. If a player says he wants to stop, he has to be substituted.
"In a sprint, we all know it's a hamstring and we all know it's going to take a while before he is back. I don't know how long, but he will be out for quite some time.
"These situations can happen during a season."
