Conor Bradley is set to captain Northern Ireland for the first time in the upcoming UEFA Nations League match against Belarus on Saturday.
The announcement was made official on Friday, with coach Michael O'Neill choosing the Liverpool player, number 84, to lead the team at ZTE Arena in Zalaegerszeg.
"It's going to be a great night, and hopefully, we'll get a result that makes it even more memorable," Bradley expressed. "I'm thrilled and looking forward to tomorrow."
Bradley's match against Belarus will mark his 20th senior international cap for Northern Ireland, during which he has scored three goals.
"Conor has displayed considerable maturity," O'Neill commented. "After consulting with several individuals at Liverpool and hearing their perspectives, it's clear they believe he's up to the task.
"In my experience working with Conor, he has always been incredibly focused and serious about his football, which is evident in his performance levels."
