Liverpool's young talent Ben Doak has been named in the provisional Scotland squad for Euro 2024, despite being sidelined since December due to injury.

Doak has been absent from the pitch following surgery for a severe knee injury sustained at the end of 2023 during a victory over Chelsea U21s.

The 18-year-old resumed full training in the latter part of the season and participated in Jurgen Klopp's farewell event at Anfield on Sunday.

Despite his setback, Doak had a notable season, making five appearances for Liverpool's first team, bringing his total to 10.

Scotland's manager Steve Clarke has acknowledged his progress by selecting him for the 28-player provisional squad for Euro 2024.

Scotland is set to play friendly matches against Gibraltar on June 3 and Finland on June 7 before traveling to Germany for the tournament, with Clarke expected to reduce his squad by two players.

Doak is one of five forwards in the lineup, joining established players James Forrest, Lyndon Dykes, Che Adams, and Lawrence Shankland.

This indicates that Doak, as one of only two uncapped players in Clarke's selection, may not be automatically excluded alongside Ross McCrorie.

Doak's inclusion as a potential wild card for Scotland in Germany seems likely, especially with injuries to right wing-backs Aaron Hickey and Nathan Patterson.

Andy Robertson, another Liverpool player, has been included as the captain of Scotland, totaling 12 call-ups from the club for the tournament.

Jarell Quansah and Curtis Jones have also been called up for the first time with England, joining Trent Alexander-Arnold and Joe Gomez.

Additionally, Virgil van Dijk, Ryan Gravenberch, and Cody Gakpo are in the provisional Netherlands squad, with Dominik Szoboszlai (Hungary), Diogo Jota (Portugal), and Ibrahima Konate (France) also selected.
