With two weeks to go until Liverpool's first pre-season under Arne Slot, Ben Doak has recovered from his injury and returned to training early.
Initially expected to join the AXA Training Centre later due to his inclusion in Scotland's Euro 2024 squad, Doak's injury exclusion led him back to his homeland for rehabilitation, aiming to impress in Slot's inaugural pre-season.
He has been working with personal trainer Jack Haggerty at Empire Performance Coaching in Glasgow, resuming ball work after a "setback."
"After a setback, we're back to work for an important two weeks before Liverpool's pre-season with client Ben Doak," Mclean shared on Empire Performance Elite’s official Instagram.
Doak hasn't played since his knee surgery in December, missing out on Scotland's Euro warmup matches.
His absence was noted in the 2-0 victory over Gibraltar and he left the squad prior to the 2-2 draw with Finland.
Liverpool's pre-season starts in early July, potentially advantageous for Doak as he seeks to make an immediate impact under Slot.
Slot will begin with a smaller squad due to the Euros and Copa America, but expects Mohamed Salah, Curtis Jones, Harvey Elliott, and Jarell Quansah to return early, alongside Doak.
Wataru Endo, Kostas Tsimikas, Caoimhin Kelleher, Conor Bradley, Stefan Bajcetic, Bobby Clark, Nat Phillips, James McConnell, Kaide Gordon, and Jayden Danns are also set to participate.
Last pre-season, Doak was notable, featuring in all five friendlies, playing 180 minutes, and scoring against Leicester.
