Andy Robertson to Miss US Summer Tour

Chris Stuart

Arne Slot has confirmed the return dates for several key players following their participation in summer tournaments last month.

Liverpool's pre-season preparations in the United States, under the guidance of their new head coach, have encountered minor setbacks due to the delayed return of numerous senior players who were involved in the Copa America and Euro 2024.

As a result, Liverpool is without several pivotal players at the beginning of their pre-season tour, which kicks off tomorrow (Friday) against Real Betis in Pittsburgh, following their arrival in Pennsylvania on Tuesday.

Absent from the early part of the pre-season tour are Trent Alexander-Arnold, Joe Gomez, Alisson Becker, Alexis Mac Allister, Darwin Núñez, Luis Díaz, Andy Robertson, Ibrahima Konaté, Virgil van Dijk, Cody Gakpo, Ryan Gravenberch, and Diogo Jota.

It has been previously disclosed that Mac Allister will join Slot and the rest of the team on August 2.

Slot faces a challenging first pre-season as Liverpool's head coach, as he must swiftly instill his philosophy and playing style.

The team's pre-season itinerary in the U.S. features prominent fixtures against Arsenal on July 31 and Manchester United on August 3, intensifying the need for a well-prepared and unified squad.

Regarding the return of his senior players, Arne Slot, speaking before the Real Betis game, disclosed that Andy Robertson would be absent from all three friendly matches in the USA.

James Pearce corroborated this update:

"Andy Robertson will not participate in the three US tour games as he continues to recuperate from an injury sustained during the Euros."
