Liverpool's goalkeeper Alisson made several crucial saves to secure a surprising 1-1 draw for Brazil against the USA.

On Wednesday night, Alisson was the only senior Liverpool player representing his national team, and he shone for Brazil in their draw with the USA in Orlando.

The friendly match was the final preparation for both teams before the Copa America, which kicks off on June 21 at 1 am (BST) with Argentina facing Canada.

This draw marked the first time since 1998 that the US has not lost to Brazil, ending a streak of 11 straight defeats.

Alisson was tested early by the USA team, managed by Gregg Berhalter, as they challenged the Liverpool goalkeeper.

In the fifth minute, Alisson thought he had been beaten when Yunus Musah fired a shot from outside the box that hit the underside of the crossbar but did not go in.

Against the flow of the game, Brazil took the lead through Rodrygo, who scored with his left foot after receiving a precise pass from Raphinha.

However, the lead was short-lived. At the 26th minute, Christian Pulisic scored with a low free-kick that went under the wall, beating Alisson on his standing side.

Although it wasn't a blunder by Liverpool's number one, he will be disappointed to have conceded the goal.

The score remained 1-1 until the end, thanks to an outstanding second-half save by Alisson, who dived to his left and stopped Pulisic from scoring again with a strong arm.

In the dying moments of the game, Brazil had an opportunity to clinch victory, but Vinicius Junior lost his composure and sent the ball across the goal.

Alisson is anticipated to remain the first-choice goalkeeper for Brazil in the Copa America.

The tournament, hosted by the USA, will see Brazil play their opening match against Costa Rica on June 25 at 2 am (BST) during the group stage.
